Overview

Every child develops communication skills at their own pace, and some children benefit from extra support along the way. We provide individualized speech and language evaluations and therapy to help children build functional communication skills, increase confidence, and connect with the people and world around them.

Observations

not babbling, using gestures, or showing interest in communicating by 12 months

not using single words by around 16 months

Has difficulty understanding simple directions or questions

Becomes frustrated, has frequent meltdowns, or relies on behaviors because it is difficult to communicate wants and needs

Has difficulty being understood by familiar listeners or others outside the family

Struggles to participate in back-and-forth interactions (such as taking turns, responding, or sharing ideas)

Shows signs of frustration with speech sounds, such as avoiding words or becoming upset when trying to talk
